Scope note
The most common type of cornett, made of a long section of wood, split in two and glued together after the conical tube was carved out, finished to an octagonal exterior cross-section, and covered in thin black leather. Usually the instruments curved to the right, accommodating right-handed players, but left-curving models were also made.
